Did you know? Nathaniel Currier and James Merritt Ives never actually met until 1852, despite having worked in the lithography business for years. Currier had established his lithography firm in 1834, and Ives joined as a bookkeeper in 1850. It was only two years later that Currier recognized Ives's talent and business acumen and made him a partner, forming the iconic firm Currier & Ives. Their partnership proved incredibly successful, producing a vast number of affordable and popular prints that documented American life in the 19th century.
