Vintage New York Municipal Airports Poster by Herzog, 1930s

Aircraft in flight and on the water bring movement to Harry Herzog’s City of New York Municipal Airports poster. Deep red, muted blue and off-white shapes give this 1930s aviation design its bold graphic look.

About the poster

Created for the Federal Art Project, the poster promotes New York’s municipal airports, including Floyd Bennett Field and North Beach. It brings a piece of early air-travel history to a study or gallery wall.
