Bring a touch of vibrant color and symbolic expression to your home with this striking print of "The Birth of the Horses" by German Expressionist artist Franz Marc. Painted in 1913, this work is a powerful example of Marc's distinctive style, characterized by bold colors, simplified forms, and a focus on expressing spiritual and emotional themes through animal subjects. The powerful imagery of horses emerging from a landscape suggests themes of birth, creation, and the interconnectedness of nature. Perfect for lovers of Expressionist art, animal symbolism, and works that explore themes of nature and spirituality.

Did you know? Franz Marc was a founding member of "Der Blaue Reiter" ("The Blue Rider"), an influential group of Expressionist artists formed in Munich in 1911.

The group sought to express spiritual and emotional truths through art, often using vibrant colors and symbolic imagery. The name "Der Blaue Reiter" (The Blue Rider) was chosen because of Marc's love of horses and Wassily Kandinsky's (another founding member) love of the color blue. This group played a crucial role in the development of Expressionism and modern art in the early 20th century.
