About The Trumpet Shop

The Trumpet Shop started off life as a vintage themed pop up shop in Edinburgh (Scotland) in 2017. Since then it has evolved into an exclusively online shop for vintage art prints that ships worldwide.

Bring a touch of exotic wildlife and 19th-century artistry into your home with this powerful work of a walking tiger by the pioneering Indonesian painter Raden Saleh. Painted in the 1800s, this work captures the majestic presence and raw power of this apex predator. Saleh’s masterful rendering of the tiger’s musculature, fur, and focused gaze creates a compelling and realistic image. Perfect for wildlife enthusiasts, art history buffs, and those who appreciate the beauty and power of animal portraits.

Did you know? The tiger depicted in Raden Saleh's paintings is most likely the Javan tiger, a subspecies that is now sadly extinct. The Javan tiger was smaller than other tiger subspecies and was native to the Indonesian island of Java.  Habitat loss and hunting led to its extinction, with the last confirmed sighting in the wild occurring in the 1970s. Saleh's paintings, therefore, serve as important historical records of this now-lost animal.

Bring a touch of exotic wildlife and artistic mastery into your home with this powerful "Walking Tiger" piece.
