The Trumpet Shop proudly began life as a pop up on George St in Edinburgh from June 2017 through to December 2017. Inspired by the jazz era of the 1920's and 1930s, we put together a vintage selection of gifts to entice and engage the good people of Edinburgh. From vintage menu prints, a premium Scottish gin selection, to locally made chocolates, there was something that little bit different about shopping at The Trumpet Shop.
We are now selling a selection of our print collection online, which will continue to grow as we connect with more people along the way. We will also be popping up in Edinburgh and beyond with further short term pop ups, please sign up via email to get the latest pop up news first.
"We don't sell trumpets..."
Our tag line of "We don't sell trumpets" came courtesy of an early American visitor to the shop. Clearly ruffled by the Scottish "Summer" weather, the gentleman in question arrived upon The Trumpet Shop in his quest to fulfil an urgent "need" for a saxophone that very evening.
By this time he was already fully acquainted with the old Scots' word of "drookit", "glaikit" wasn't far behind , and was also now halfway to "scunnered".
The only words of wisdom we could offer to our agitated Atlantic ancestor to help him understand were "We don't sell trumpets..." - which quickly became music to our ears as he sought shelter elsewhere to, hopefully, dry his eyes...
